[39e] Mysterious Falling Lava
« on: July 24, 2008, 02:48:01 pm »

Okay this is pretty weird. I just genned a new world and found a nice spot with some interesting stuff... and one thing that is REALLY WEIRD.

There's a bottomless pit, right? But at the very top level, when the map started, there was lava. And nothing holding it up.

So, now there's a huge glob of inexplicable lava, falling very quickly down a bottomless pit.

It's probably going to kill all of the monsters that live there. ^.^;;

And yeah, there it goes. That much lava falling so fast lagged out my computer for a little bit but now it's mostly down the bottomless pit. There was some that spilled over the edge at first, but thankfully not onto my dwarves. The monsters in there are totally screwed, though.

Somehow five of the antmen survived but the rest of the monsters are dead, and their names on the unit list are glowing like fire. XD

Ah, I see.  People were describing it as a volcano with a bottomless pit on it, so I was looking in the wrong place.  Bottomless pits themselves were screwed up, and it'll be fixed for next time...  until then, any bottomless pit that gets close to the surface will be quite screwy.

I'm pretty new to bottomless pits, I never used a site find tool before one was added. But yeah, there was no volcano, no magma pipe, and no magma pool listed at the location I embarked on. I sorta wish there was, it has everything else I wanted!

The magma just 'appeared' in mid air, and fell down the pit, killing most of the monsters. Some of the magma fell off the side of the very high cliffy mountain, and burninated the grassy valley below. (thankfully missing my dwarves by about fourty cubes!)
