If you make one with two polar caps, it will be annoying and still choose a north or south pole for the world and cool that part and heat the other side.  So you might have to work a bit until I get more params in, and the work you do to offset this will only work 1/2 the time.  Constant torment.  Constant suffering.

Hey I got it to work by slamming my face against the keyboard.

My guide will be better.

Well, each row will have to be either 2 or 3 thick (2*25 = 50, 3*25 = 75, 50+75 = 125, 257/2 =128.5) so you'll have an extra 7 rows, one extra on the equator, three on the caps.

Happy?

If you want real poles you'll need to set the temperature to below 25. Glaciers only form at -15 or -10.

Would it be possible, in the future, to make it so you can import the various height/heat/etc maps?  The export function seems to be a flat 1-to-1 as it is, so I'd think it would just be a matter of reversing it.

I think the temperature ranges might be a little wide on the most extreme maps, but other than that, yeah, it'd be possible.  Temperature also has the problem of being stored post pole/elev adjustment, but the painter does it pre adjustment, so there'd be some fiddling there as well.
