[39c] Artifact creation skill / object oddity
« on: July 21, 2008, 07:53:50 am »

My clerk/miner (legendary record keeper, high master miner, proficient appraiser, competent organiser, dabbling social skills) went into a secretive mood, and took over a mason's workshop, eventually creating a bed out of basalt (are artifacts allowed to create objects out of usually inappropriate materials? as far as I am aware, you can't make beds out of stone normally).
After creating the bed, the dwarf didn't get legendary mason / stone crafter as I'd have expected (and was looking forward too :P), but got legendary miner - pretty sure this is a bug.
I can upload a save if helpful

Nope, not a bug.  Just one of Toady's design decisions.  Not one I understand, but mining is nonetheless a moodable skill.

Just think of it as the miner using his pick to make the bed instead of a hammer and chisel or whatever else a mason might use.
