So far I went on on a couple of mini-murdering sprees as goblins in an Elf and Human town, but the leaders of the towns still give me "Ah, well we are quite untroubled here.."

Yes, happens all the time especially on pocket/small worlds, you just have to retire that old adventurer in a town that's relatively close to the new town where you ask for quests.

I had a situation like the TC's, where I went into a town and hacked up a few people, and left, and the questgiver wouldn't say anything about it.

Then I went to the town where the attacker was, and he decided to pick a fight with me, and tried to kill me. I hacked off an arm, and decided just to wander off and let him live. Meanwhile, the nearby peasents were trying to kill me, so I hacked a few of them up, and left.

Later, as a different character, I went to the second town, and the mayor, who had lost an eye in the fight, wanted me to go kill the second adventurer. Heading to the town where they were, they didn't bother trying to kill me for some reason, and talking to the mayor of the first town, he wanted me to go and kill the second town's mayor. So I did. And then the mayor told me for the next quest to kill the armless murdering adventurer, so I did.

Strange world.

I got one, but my old adventurer was too stong. For five minutes, the two of of kept blocking each others blows atop his town's palace.. I even tried throwing my lance at him, but it glanced away. Then a guard got tired of watching, ran up to my guy, and promptly one-shot him.

Upon further exploration this does indeed seem to be the case. Which is a shame, justice should know no bounds! :D

I hope Toady will provide a way to 'increase' the range of these types of quests. Or at least mention what the range is..

What I did was;
1. Retire an adventurer.
2. Get your new one to team up with him
3. Attack him, and let him kill you (drop weapons + armour etc)
4. Get a quest from the town you started from; the adventurer should be living in a cave.

The best thing was though, I retired him after killing two moledogs and using their corpses as weapons. So he killed that guy with his naked mole dogs.
When I was in control of him, I nicknamed him "Houndo", Legendary Mole Dog Slinger.
When I killed him, I took his leg and dubbed that guy as "Legolas", Legendary Mole Dog Slinger's Leg Slinger.

I've just retired him too. NOW TO KEEP THE LEGEND GOING!
