[39a] Bridge bugs
« on: July 15, 2008, 07:56:52 am »

I saw two problematic bridges in a dwarven road in adventure mode.

One of them crossed a open chasm, and suddenly it stopped - under it the road continued. There was a unevenness between the chasm sides, maybe this confused the game.

Another bridge, a really long one, crossed not a chasm, but a really deep cliff cut in the mountain. Under it there was a road, even though the bridge continued to the other side as you would expect.

Posting a pic of the "unfinished bridges" bug. (Also, good god I suck at compressing images.)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I have also come across instances where the bridge is lower than the road.

EDIT: I forgot to tell you that this happened in 39b.

Looking at these images, it just hit me how horribly hard it must have been to get the roads and bridges to line up reasonably well in even the majority of cases. I'm becoming more and more impressed with this release. :)

Apparently 39b fixes a bunch of bridge stuff. I say apparently because worldgen has changed enough that recycling a seed didnt get me the same road layout, so I couldnt regression test my own wacky bridge bug.

Also, good god I suck at compressing images.

If you save them as a png file instead of jpg, the quality is better and it looks less "fuzzy."

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

But PNGs are HUEG

They're a little big, but nothing your average DSL shouldn't be able to handle.

Not if "ur doin it rite".

Use Irfanview for compression.  For most DF screenshots, the PNGs *should* be smaller than the jpegs.
