FPS Indicator?
« on: July 14, 2008, 06:18:10 am »

I've noticed on a lot of screenshots from other people's games that there's a way to view your FPS in-game. Is there a way I could activate this on my game?

It's an option in the init file.  Just scroll down a ways.

Thanks for your help :)

Incidentally, while we're on the subject, what's generally a "good" target FPS threshold for the game?

And, while I'm asking questions, what do the item quality markings in the text represent (such as =Birch Pointy Stick= and that sort of thing)? I've been able to figure out through context that a !Birch Pointy Stick! is generally something on fire, but I'm a bit lost as to the rest... Is there a page on the Wiki that has a key or anything?

It's hard to say what a "good" fps is. Personally I don't like to play anything under 20.

Had to abandon my best fort ever when it routinely got 5-7 fps even with weather/temp turned off.  :-\

I used to like playing at 100fps because it got things done, but recently I've found the game is actually more fun at around 50, so i'd say that is a good target.

I usually get 110-120 FPS, things don't get done because they refuse to remove the stone that is being USED TO MAKE  THE WALL so they can make the wall, they'd rather suspend it until the stone is moved. Damn dwarves.
