If cave-ins proper (you know, the whole 6x6 rule) are reinstated, then an earthquake could knock it down to 5x5, or something.

It would be useful, however impossible to program, if dwarves could tell what damage was done by certain disasters (mainly Earthquakes) and could repair the damage themselves to a certain extent

I guess quakes could be implemented as a temporary reduction in support offered by pillars and walls, causing some cave-ins in certain more excessive vaults.

It would be neat if it could reverse engineer fault-lines from existing mountain ranges to decide where these theoretical quakes should hit.  And then to extend that furthure, ranges with active fault lines would have soil that threatens the mudslides.  Then you have dwarves/goblin/kobolds dealing the quakes and humans and elves with the mudslides; that way, everybody looses!  =->

A really powerful Quake should be able to bring demons and other monsters from deep within the earth's crust up to the surface!

I'm liking this too... 15 years into your fortress, the earth splits, creating a chasm... half your military falls in, along with your entire steel industry.  Plus, you've now got a chasm in the center of your fortress... GAME ON!!!
