So, i'm starting a skull collection (again... ) and i've found a nice place near a glacier. So right now i have an elk skull, a deer skull, a rhesus macaque skull, a wolf skull, a black bear skull, a cougar skull and a fox skull, but for the life of me i can't get a polar bear skull. I've gone out on the ice repeatedly and killed dozens of polar bears, but every time i burn the bodies i only get bones. I even make sure not to damage the heads by strangling the bears until they bleed to death, but no dice. Should i just keep at it until i get a polar bear skull or should i change my strategy somehow? Had a similar problem with the black bear skulls, but the 4th or 5th one yielded a skull.

On a side note, whats the chances of me encountering a grizzly bear in adventure mode and is there any way for me to improve those chances?

On a further aside, how do i get down to the beach in adventure mode in such a way that i can get back up? I want to go walrus hunting.

2 z levels will cause some minor injuries but i've bled to death from them before so be careful.

There must be some random chance or something else... Polar bears are the same as other bears in raws.

I tried this in my current adventurer with humans (kill town burn corpses) and got the same problems. No skulls whatsoever. Some of them were decapitates, and i was careful to put the heads in too. But no human skulls

Heads leave bones but not skulls. Sasquatches have also given me this problem, though the first grizzly i fought gave up his skull right and proper.
Semi-megabeasts are reluctant skull givers too.
Point is moot now, my ultra stats dwarf just had his head smashed in by a goblin macelord....

Question: If i carry a corpse around does it rot like food does? If so, does it leave the bones afterwards?
