water question
« on: July 09, 2008, 09:24:19 am »

I had a fort where the water never dried out. In the new fort I'm trying to make, the water in the ponds dried out in the first year, never to refill. What causes the water to dry up? They layer under the ground is sand, does this dry it up?

Also, to make a bridge, do I build it on solid land then dig under it to make a moat? They don't seem to build bridges when there is nothing under it.

thanks!

For bridges, they just need to have one square touching land. If it's a drawbridge, one square of the side that its going up on must be on land.

ambient temperature causes the water to dry up.  If it dries up all the way in summer, it will not fill back up.  Try running/moving the water underground where it is always temperate and never freezes/evaporates.

I have been trying different biomes, and "moist" never seems to dry up in the first year. I haven't gone past the first year, seeing I don't have an extra computer just to let it run on, but "moist" areas may never dry up.

If it doesn't dry out after 4 seasons have passed, it doesn't dry out.

Is there any other biome that doesn't dry up then? Or is it just moist?
