How can I find out if it's my civ/group symbol?

There are two ways.  The first is to go into your fort in Adventure mode and start looking at engravings.  It will specifically say if an image is the civilization or group symbol.  That requires backing up your save and abandoning your fort, however.

There's a simpler way.  Look at a few of the tentacle demon engravings.  If they have the same title, then it's definitely a civ or group symbol.  Unfortunately it won't specify which unless you go into adventure mode.

Wasn't it also shown on coins if you inspect them? I'm not sure, Im "relatively" new to this all myself but never minted coints to test it out with as I heard the economy runs just fine without having dwarves dropping coins around your fort everwhere.
