Dwarven Hicks

Wow, just wow. I had to make an account for this very reason. I was goofing around in adventure mode, and I followed the mayor to his house one night. I see a peasant, and guess what I see when I talk to her?...

Yep, that's been happening ever since the wonder of pocket worlds.  It's somewhat old news now, and you touched upon one of the milder cases.  There are some people who could go on and on about all the different ways a particular person was related to them.

Not to mention the folks whose kids died of old age.  There is no greater sorrow than that of a parent who must bury their own child...  Especially if it's due to natural causes.

Just a minor addon/question, on this same world, I just got two tasks to kill the same dragon.. ok... went down to the cave it was in, killed a few weak monsters, and I get the message that the dragon has given in to pain, then that it bled to death... I got credit for the quest.. but... huh? What just happened?

It probably had a disagreement with some other creature, and ended up holding the wrong end of the stick.

I can understand that, but there weren't any combat messages. Did the fight just already happen, but the dragon didn't die until I was actully on the map, or is it some weird thing that none of us can comprehend? And to be honest, unless it was a Giant Cave Spider, even a dragon could probobly stand up to most of those cave creatures.

Chances are, the fight had already been going on for some time.  You just happened to get close enough to "hear" it just as the dragon died.  And as for what killed it, well...  Even a dragon can only take so many naked mole dogs before going down.

But I don't think it was an animal that did it...  I don't think megabeasts will fight with other wild animals.  Did you happen to see any kobolds in that cave?  If so, it's entirely possible that a kobold archer or two managed to get in a couple lucky shots.  Kobolds will gladly fight with all other cave denizens, including things they really should just avoid.

Nope, I only saw the usual cave creatures.

The weird thing was, I was in the cave for a while before I got the message. So perhaps he was wounded and died afterward?

Don't monsters sometimes suffer internal injuries when the map crosses temperature regions or something?  I vaguely remember seeing a thread about that.

I don't know about Cthulhu's report but the dragon could be wounded by something like wandering hostile creature (there could be a goblin/kobold/dwarf/human/elf nearby, sometimes I meet travelling guards) which pierced dragon's heart or made another mortal wound, but the dragon managed to kill it. Then you walked by close enough to see a message which stated that the dragon finally has given to pain (maybe he did it many times already before you travelled close enough to see it) and finally even his superdwarvenly tough nature couldn't stop him from bleeding to death. Or maybe he had dodged from some high cliff.

Find the dragon's corpse, its killer should still be around, and badly wounded.
