Item descriptions and Artwork in colour
« on: August 04, 2009, 06:29:13 am »

I think that artwork and item descriptions in general would become much more readable if they were somewhat colour coded. For example: When examining an engraving of Urist McFirst and of Urist McSecond striking down Urist McFirst, a colour for each dwarf (random or set) and a specific colour for the action:

Urist McSecond is striking down Urist McFirst.

I dunno, it seems like it would hurt the eyes if there were too many colors around :( . Sure it's useful in Adventure mode, where each event type has a corresponding color (attack, injured, mangled) but looking at the log is painful.

I think that color-coding the important parts makes it look too much like a mad lib, whereas the game is trying to make it look more like generated prose.

To me it's painful to look at the writing now as it is. Having just this slight colouration when looking at item descriptions (I'm not suggesting it for anything else) would make it a lot easier on the eyes for me. And a lot quicker to read.

It does make it difficult to read though. Id much prefer being able to read it easily to it seaming a little stiffer.
