Can see round corners
« on: June 29, 2008, 03:45:01 pm »

When invading a goblin tower in adventure mode, I saw one of those glowing eye symbols. Which wouldn't be so bad, if there wasn't an obsidian wall between him and me.
I've got a screenshot if anyone cares to spot a sightline, but since I got mauled soon after, no save.
Also, since searching for "goblins", "eyes" and "adventure" throws up so many results, this may be well known.

That's not seeing, that's hearing.

I think.

I thought it was meant to represent the glowing eyes of the vicious foe. Which is why it doesn't show up for bears or so on.
You may be right though.

I would say that it's for glowing eyes, yes. Goblins, Kobolds, and Blizzardmen all have something like this in the raws:

Code: [Select]
[GLOWTILE:'"'][GLOWCOLOR:4:0:1]
The GLOWCOLOR there is bright red on black; Kobolds have bright yellow on black (if I remembered that correctly, too lazy to look it up again).

"Glow" would imply something that you see, though it could certainly be used for other senses.

Just for fun...

Hrm, I'll probably need a save for this, since there's a check on visibility versus the eye printing.  The " are indeed eyes -- this is clarified when you occasionally get a ` or a '.
