So I have to kill a minotaur or something for an obscure mayor, and have gone off the find the cave. So I follow the instructions on the wiki to get to the area, then follow the compass to find the cave area. What the hell? Wheres the cave?

 The compass in the upper left corner of the screen points out the general area, not the exact location. If you have ever been to a goblin fortress, you can see just how large an area is. But remember: It is generally in the center of an area.

 Caves appear as pits in the ground. Look for a square pit with ramps leading down into it. Then you will find your cave.

 Be warned, they are quite extensive. Once you finish your quest use (T)ravel to get out.

I think in your case, the cave is up the cliff.

Caves aren't in mountainsides... usually they're just a hole in the ground.

Like, a huge area of grassy downward slopes? Or is it just one little square? Also, does a cave interior look any different then the outside? Sorry for all the newb questions...

Nevermind, I think I found it. After going down a large slope, everything turned all blue...does that mean cave?

Well, after eventually finding the area where theres only 1 space to move, and attack the small little M on the map, I killed him without taking one point of damage. Yay me.

The entrance to a cave is a square of downwards slopes, which lead into a small square with one downwards slope in the center.

Inside that, it's the cave.
