Underwater River [38C]
« on: June 22, 2008, 12:13:40 am »

I just made a fort, where a glacier meets the mountains and whenever I look at the unit screen it shows this list of dead creatures you'd normally find in an underground river or lake, Frogmen and Giant Olm mainly, I haven't found the body, but at the end of a river is a chasm, I dunno if this is normal or not. It's really annoying to have 2-3 pages of missing bodies.

Yes, this is a known problem. Cave rivers magically source from nothing and wind around through the mountain till they dump into a chasm. This means they are more or less constantly flowing, and the water pressure slowly but surely pushes creatures along. Eventually they get pushed to the end and fall into the chasm.

Outside rivers have a similar problem in that they usually drain off the map faster then the flow replenishes them and so the last few squares end up very shallow and fish end up getting pushed there and 'drown' in the air.

Well clearly the river is under the river water, where else would it be?

Well, the river is obviously underground, but it magically appears, so why not call it the underwater river? Better than the alternative.... And I decided to call it underwater river because I didn't realize that the bodies had fallen into a Chasm....Since land-walkers drown in a river, what else do water-walkers drown in, None other than the underwater river, and the air.
