Trying to add a new metal, Could use assistance.

Great work Toady! New forum for modding! Anyway, I have a question for anyone willing. I recently tried to make a new Metal. For some reason I can't get it to show up where it should ( Or anywhere for that matter ) I'll post the raw here.

I can't seem to figure out why it won't work. Everything looks exactly as it should, as I copy pasted most of it and just changed some things around.

Looks alright to me at a glance.. Have you deleted and regenned your world? Most things that you mod won't have any effect until you create a new world.

Perhaps you just haven't managed to find any? Try using adjustart to get a ton of dwarves with max mining and picks to clear out several layers of rock and see if you find any. Getting rid of all the other ores might make it more likely to crop up, depending on how it's calculated.

I believe Teldin may have pegged it, was not aware I needed to create an entire new world. I'll give that a try.

Works fine now, with the odd side effect that I start out with two Godenite battle axes which cost 2500 points each.. Well free points I guess? Haha.

I must admit, I may have made this a wee - bit powerful.. My unskilled peasent wood cutter just sent a saltwater crocodile flying across 2 mountain ranges to land on the border of the map with one swing. Oops.

Hahaha. I wonder if you can send something flying off the edge of the map into the next zone. Would be awesome if it were possible.

Yeah, the axes in your initial gear are always made of the most expensive, weaponisable metal available to you. and with axes costing 10 times the value of the metal, that adds up to a lot of points.

Actually, it isn't overpowered. It has only a third of the value as adamantine.

It has about 200 more damage modifer than Adamantine.

Add [DEEP] to the MATGLOSS_METAL entry to make it stop appearing all over the place (as with your battle axes).  It shouldn't affect demon pits or anything (though adding it to the MATGLOSS_STONE entry would appear around pits).
