Wallabies weighing heavily on my mind.
« on: May 14, 2008, 07:11:00 pm »

I had a strange occurrence. I noticed one of my crossbowmen was starving to death and moving at a ridiculously slow pace. For a while I was baffled until I thought maybe he was weighed down by something

Sure enough, his wallaby leather armour weighed 718238!

Is there something I could of done that made this happen or is it just a random oddity? I've tried looking to see if I had anything else made out of wallaby flesh but it seems to be the only one.

I'm pretty sure that nothing can be done except to stop using wallaby leather armor.

If you can post the data on wallabies up here, we might be able to help more.

'til then, just dump it.

Wow that is heavy... I am surprised your Crossbowman is alive yet alone able to move...

I'm pretty sure its a random oddity. You may be able to edit the game(im not sure how) and make the walluby armor weigh less..

Or maybe a mechanic, if given enough time to prepare.

DF Companion seems like the tool most likely to solve the problem.

But... are wallabies even in unmodded DF?

It's really weird regardless, I'm not sure how even a modded creature could have bizarre superheavy leather like that (perhaps some MATERIAL error in the creature itself?), but if it's modded, the problem's probably there.

If not, I have no idea.

It's a modded-in creature, and it's got some problems with its skin.  The berserk weight would point to something like the ever-popular entity name copy, but there's been no mention of other such occurances  (certain creatures randomly bursting into flame, the ability to start as a turtle adventurer, so on).

I'd say post the wallaby creature profile and let those of us with nothing better to do take a gander at it.

A quick way to check for duplicate entries is to check the error log when you load up. However I have had some strangeness with this when adding lots and lots of plants.

I just had it happen again with a different creature's leather armour. Anyway here's the wallaby's entry.

code:
 [CREATURE:WALLABY]
   [NAME:wallaby:wallabies:wallaby]
   [TILE:'w'][COLOR:6:0:0]
   [POPULATION_NUMBER:10:30]
   [CLUSTER_NUMBER:1:4]
   [PETVALUE:100]
   [LARGE_ROAMING][BENIGN]
   [MEANDERER][NATURAL]
   [GENPOWER:3][PET]
   [GRASSTRAMPLE:0]
   [PREFSTRING :pouches]
   [BODY:HUMANOID:2EYES:2EARS:NOSE:2LUNGS:HEART:GUTS:ORGANS:HUMANOID_JOINTS:THROAT:NECK:SPINE:BRAIN:MOUTH]
   [SIZE:4]
   [MAXAGE:5:10]
   [ATTACK:MAIN:BYTYPE:GRASP :punch :punches:1:1:BLUDGEON][ATTACKFLAG_WITH]
   [ATTACK:SECOND:BYTYPE:MOUTH:bite:bites:1:2:GORE][ATTACKFLAG_CANLATCH]
   [FAT:1]
   [CHILD:1][CHILDNAME:wallaby joey:wallaby joeys]
   [NOCTURNAL]
   [BIOME:SHRUBLAND_TROPICAL]
   [HOMEOTHERM:10067]
   [LAYERING:100]
   [SWIMS_INNATE][SWIM_SPEED:2500]

And my errorlog is pretty dull...

No [STANDARD_FLESH]. This sets the creature's material properties to common for a living creature. That's the only related thing I can see.

Good eye! Thanks for pointing that out. I'll see if it fixes it.

I'm going to have to go through all my creatures to see which are missing that tag. I did a lot of work on my mod in the wee hours of the morning, so I'm not surprised that I'm still running into goof ups.      :)

EDIT: I took a look through them all, and the other creature (padmelon) that had weight issues was also missing standard flesh. So Kangaroos, wallabies and Pademelons all had the tag missing, which isn't surprising since they're similar animals and I just copied and modified the entry of the kangaroo for the other two.
