My army of four including myself decided to storm a goblin stronghold. Valiently we fought, until a great many goblins began to surround us. Then suddenly, I spied a deceased guards battle axe, which I desired simply because wielding a haldberd and a shield is just silly. So I took two turns dropping my haldberd and picking up the axe. In the meantime, the goblins were coming ever closer, until eventually I was knocked unconcious through the work of a macegoblin. A short while later my chest had exploded into gore, and I was defeated.

But fate had different plans for me.

In the afterlife, I encountered a door labeled "finish game", which I assumed must mean some spiritual mumbo jumbo about entering paradise. As I walked through, there was a crash of thunder, and a mighty voice roared;

DWARF FORTRESS HAS ENCOUNTERED AN ERROR AND MUST CLOSE. CHECK ONLINE FOR DETAILS!!!

Then, I felt myself falling for what seemed like forever, until my body collided into the ground with a loud thump. I had travelled back in time, it would seem, shortly before I had recruited my allies and stormed the fortress.

Tadaaa! I came back from the dead! What have YOU done with YOUR existence lately? Slaughtered some giants? Pah.

Congratulations.  Now wait for it to do the same thing after you've singlehandedly defeated the entire goblin fortress and slain the goblin king, and have just started moving towards a human town on the world map.
