I'm sorry I have to ask you guys these stupid questions, but I looked everywhere else and found little that could help me.

Where can I get more food? At random shops?

Is there a way to find towns easier, other than wandering into one?

Where can I find many enemies? Just an abandoned fort?

There are shops at which you can trade for food, yes.  Check human cities, they are the easiest to find the merchant shops at.

The easiest way to find towns is to familiarize yourself with the world map Legend found here; http://dwarf.lendemaindeveille.com/index.php/Map_legend

To find enemies, one way is to get quests, you can talk to the Mayor in human cities (always in the Inn you enter the city at)  or you can find caves and goblin forts around the world map.  

The map legend will help you out with both the former and the latter!

Okay, thank you.

I was curious if I had to find berries and stuff, or what.

I guess I should start as a human, since they start in a town and can get quests.

I haven't found any harvestable or gatherable berries or grown food ... well, I find them, but I can't (g)et them ... no idea why though.  Seems silly to have a prickle berry just sittin there and my master swordsman can't figure out how to get the berries off.

He can set it on fire with his invisible flint & steel though!
