Equipping Allies?
« on: January 06, 2008, 08:49:00 pm »

Is this possible?  I'm on an epic adventure with two other Swordsmen/women and one of them lost his sword.  Is he stuck forever bashing with his shield?

Is there a way to kick them out of your party in order to retire them, at least, or do you have to A) Ditch them in a cave or B) Wait for them to die
?

have you tried talking to them ?I've never survived a mission so I'm not really sure. I normally take a hoard of drunk people any how (you'd be surprised how effective all those drunks in the mead hall are in combat O.o)

I tried talking to them, but they're not very talkative now, they're both dead from Giant Lion-related injuries, as am I.

You can "kick" people from the party by travelling somewhere on the world map they can't/won't follow, and going over an area border while doing it. I've been doing it by dropping down low cliffs or swimming. The "lost" party members will become visible as migrant groups on the map. You can rejoin them by travelling back to the region and going there, selecting "civilisation creature" and/or "civilisation group", and repeating until you have them all.

Not sure if they stay there forever. They do remain for several days.

This sometimes causes crashes so backing up first is advised.

I had my battle axe get stuck in a polar bear and the unarmed crossbowman with me twisted it out and kept it. Not exactly the easiest way to equip someone though...

Can that be done free of consequences? (Apart from that they will attack you back.) That is, if you attack one of them, does it piss off any towns or civs, peasants or other party members?

It pisses off everybody.
Absolutely everybody, except perhaps the other races.

Also, I don't know if it annoys other civs.

Attacking someone pisses off their entire civ.  Other civs usually don't care.  That may change once alliances are in.  I accidentally attacked one of my party members in one of the earlier versions and my whole party attacked me.  That was bad, because about 4 of them were very experienced by that time.  I managed to kill a few, but they ended up killing me outside of one of their towns.  When I came back with another adventurer, I found my corpse on a pike.

Haha, same for me. Well, I have once, but I was mad that the mayor didn't give me anything for my troubles, nor did he give me something to kill. So I broke his kid's legs, arm, then stabbed the mayor through the stomach. Then three drunks and a maceman came over and beat the puppy juice out of me.

[Healthcare Update Thread] Personally, I can't wait for doctors to get possessed and start surgically attaching axes to champion soldier's arms.
