Hitting through stairs, webbed mule, are these bugs?

Well, I entered a cave with no allies, killed some creatures. When I closed to the stair, I saw the message about a cyclops appeared before me. "Prepare to die!" Then:

You've been spotted!
The cyclops strikes at You but the shot is blocked!
You counterstrike!
You hack at The cyclops in the head with your iron battle axe!
It is cut!
The cyclops's eye has been slashed out!
The cyclops's throat has been slashed out!
The cyclops's neck has been badly cut!

I didn't see him, and some other creatures were surrounding me, including a troll. So I had no time to find that poor cyclops. Soon I saw the message:

The cyclops gives into pain.
The cyclops falls over.
....
The cyclops regains consciousness.
...
The cyclops is no longer stunned.
...
Kod Xosnoloz, cyclops has bled to death.

After I killed all creatures I stepped downstairs, and saw that cyclops' corpse.

About the mule:

Yeah, you can fight through ramps and stairs.

The mule was caught in a giant spider web. It's not a bug.

That was interesting. Can't that cyclops go upstairs by himself?

I think boss in areas can go upstair and downstair by themselves, but they must have a target to follow first. That's what happened to my first wave of "friends" when I went to fight an Hydra. They all died and I "retreated", but originaly the Hydra was on the second floor and it went up as it slaughtered dwarf after dwarf...

If you are standing on the stairway or directly next to it then you can have battles through it.
