Raised dead pick up their gear
« on: November 09, 2024, 01:14:09 am »

Simple suggestion - if a reanimate or resurrect interaction is used on a corpse, it should automatically equip any equipment (clothes, weapons, backpacks) on its tile, if possible.
Since corpses don't have an inventory, their clothing is normally scattered on the tile they died on. This would be a logical workaround to the act of (un-)dying stripping you of your mortal possessions.
This would also make necromancers a lot scarier - effectively granting immortality to their fully-armed minions so long as they can keep casting the spell. It might be better to implement this after raising the dead has an associated cost.

That would be a nice work around, but I wish they only dropped hand-held gear on death. It would also be nice not to have hauling jobs for every dead body's sock and earring. Of course then you add a new tedious mechanic to strip equipment from corpses if you don't want to dispose of them with their things attached.

About the specific suggestion: zombies are already a little too hard but it would be cooler if they had on their old clothing and equipment.

Auto-dropping bling and clothing upon death sounds like good incentive to try to murder invaders on top of your incoming-scrap stockpile.

Stripping corpses counts as a hauling job, right?
