Removing dwarf from squad of previous fort

In my second migrant wave I got some dwarves from a previous fort that I just retired, one of which was in my old military. The problem is he's still marked as part of the old squad and has the soldier job. Does anybody know how to remove him from that old squad while I'm in my new fortress?

Seems to have resolved itself with him becoming... an administrator? Okay then I guess
