Nosferatu [1/7 Players, Signups]

+ ۩ N O S F E R A T U ۩ +
A deadly Vampyr stalks the village at night! Can you find them and stake them before the village is destroyed?

This is a Hidden Role game similar to Mafia.
The Good Guys, aka Hunters win when they Stake the Vampire or Cast 5 Rituals.
The Bad Guys, aka the Vampyr and the GM, win when either the Hunters stake the wrong person or 5 Bites have been performed.
That's right, the GM is none other then Renfield, Nosferatu's loyal henchman! While the GM will perform all their tasks accurately, they will also try to subvert the efforts of the Hunters by sewing dissent and trying to help the Vampyr fly under the radar. They also determine who gets bitten by the Vampyr.

Looks like an interesting concept and very well put together OP. Would be up for playing this at some point, but Net Police mafia is starting shortly, and I think I’d get confused playing two games at once.

While the forum might eventually muster another 5 players, having >12 players and 2 gms is pretty high activity by current standards, so I think you’re unlikely to see this start until Net Police is over.

Do you think you’ll still be able to run this a few weeks from now?

Thanks for the heads up on how this part of the forum works! I haven't ran a game before here so I was a little unsure.

My expectation was it would take a while until there are enough interested players anyway, so I'm more then happy to wait until after Net Police is completed.

I've played this a bunch in person, but I'm not sure how well it translates to a forum game. Anything where you have to wait for a specific person to do their action means the game is likely to be very slow and often grind to a halt. What would take twenty minutes in person could easily take a month with different time zones and activity levels. It's a lot of PMing cards to-and-from the GM.

I'll in if you want to try it.

In - One of my earliest and best forum game experiences was playing an armature game of mafia. Full disclosure, my reading comprehension is seriously 4 times slower than average(ex. a half hour worth of reading takes me 2 hours to fully understand, a ratio that was drilled into me after many timed tests in school, which carried over to skill assessments in the working world). I'll need to rely on skimming to get by. My hope is this novel format will give me a chance as we're all learning.

Please be patient with me. That said, I am going to try to kick the other team's butt! Bring it on!

Hi!

What if the written stuff is read to you, can that help you more easily?

Hello.

I doubt it, it just takes me certain amount of time to process information. I can read fast enough, but it just takes me several rereads of each sentence to process the information.

I suppose when my dad read Harry Potter to me I could understand once I got used to J.K. Rowling's tempo and themes.

Are you offering?

Yes, to connect you to 1+ services that would read whatever text you input aloud to you whenever you wish.

It's free, no account required, you simply paste text of any length in, will pause or replay and highlights the word being currently read in case you want a guide to watch as well as listen or you just listen.

https://ttsreader.com/

There's others, that's one option.

Oh nice. I usually use tools like these to proofread my forum games, but they always run out and switch to a scratchy voice. I'll give it a shot thanks.

...Hmm, seems there is a pretty tight 300 char limit per day. Mafia blows through that in a single conversation.

(Also, for some reason I can't seem to make it actually make any voice?)

...Oh, there is some 5000 char version, but it doesn't seem to be working on my phone browser either.

Whoops, this one changed since I last recommended it.  I see what you're talking about, I no longer recommend it.

This is my current recommendation:

https://www.naturalreaders.com/online/

Currently:

"Free users can sample the Premium Voices for 20 minutes per day and the Plus Voices for 5 minutes per day. Or use any available Free Voices unlimitedly.

You can also listen and go with our mobile app. By using the mobile camera, you can even use our app to listen to physical books and notes."

I see 3 free voices to choose from, and you can play with the other voices as time allows if you wanted to.

I probably don't want to get used to a disability tool with a timer or monetization element. Thanks tho

If you have any more suggestions, go ahead and PM me directly. Thanks!

Weird, I see and have listened to these 3 voice choices at the very bottom when I am on that page (I don't have an account there, no idea why you don't see them).  Sorry that didn't work for you, good luck with whatever you choose to do!
