In game announcements log is not being written to

I understand "Popup," "Pause," "Recenter," and "Alert" in the announcements settings but can someone describe the others to me in detail? The in game announcements log isn't getting written to, I'm checking gamelog.txt.

Didn't you already ask about this?

IDK why gamelog.txt wouldn't be written to, other than some kind of file permissions issue.

Not gamelog.txt, the in game announcements. Clicking on the "A" in the upper left corner of the screen, lots of things aren't being recorded in the announcements screen.

The 'A' should contain announcements set to "Fort", IIRC.

Can you give an example of something you expect to see in the announcement screen that isn't showing up?

In the announcements window, the all tab is empty, and I only have information from the combat, sparring, and hunting tabs.

I've found how to solve my problem: restore the defaults. I copied Dwarf Fortress/data/init to Dwarf Fortress/prefs.
