Are wooden shields no longer invincible?
« on: December 06, 2023, 11:41:36 pm »

As far as I know,
the material of the shield has nothing to do with its defense capability, so it is known that a wooden shield can also prevent flames and metal weapons.

But when I did an experiment at the arena,
the durability eventually dropped to XX,
and the dwarfs let go of it.

Did it change with the new patch?

Shields lose durability when dwarves use them as weapons. Wooden shields can still block everything.

Shields don't lose durability when blocking?  I was almost certain that armor lost durability when hit now, based on the usual material differences, so that's surprising.

Though, in practice, I've mostly only seen it when my soldiers stab goblins through clothing, which quickly becomes XXclothingXX or is even destroyed.  I'm not sure I've seen armor do that, even copper junk.

Shields and armor are not the same thing.

Oh, sure, but I am still surprised the mechanic wasn't translated to shields too.
