How big do taverns need to be?
« on: October 30, 2023, 08:36:08 pm »

I have two taverns but I don't notice lot of dancing and singing.  Telling of stories and poems, yes, dancing and singing, no.  How much room do they need?  How big should I make a tavern to allow more...interaction?

I'm curious about this too.  I've made some taverns with 8x8 dance areas but dances and singing have only happened a couple of times that I noticed in 12 game years of my last fort.

10x10 is the maximum dancefloor zone. The rest of the taverns design very much depends on where to put the booze and boxes.

Normally i like a 11x11 central area with 2x4 alcoves where i can just lie tables, thrones, boxes and boozebarrels so they're not obstructing the main floor, too narrow to dance in, but the closeness helps dwarves socialize.
