- Have friends and families of fortress residents come and visit taverns.
- Visitors should come in bigger groups (1-5).

Some different visitors type would be nice to create more stories when playing the fort. Who does not like a great aunt visiting, or coming over for a baby shower? (When a new dwarven baby is born).
Also a family of chinchilla men would be a cool visit!

Besides different kinds of dangers, this is another thing that can spice up a fortress life.

This would fix the longstanding “be with family” issue that most dwarves have.

If you're so sure that you're gonna end up killing all of dwarven civilization, why not make a statue depicting 2147483647 dead dwarves, all of which are burning? Name it something good, like Deaddead the Dead Dead Dead-Dead of Dying. Just put it in the main hall or something, as a grim reminder that they're all gonna die.

I really like this idea tbh. I don't have a ton else to say about it. It would make the world feel a lot more connected and less random, plus it would incidentally help with moods.

A messenger, carrying letters from friends & relatives back at the Mountainhome and other settlements. Receiving word can go a long way toward satisfying the "met with family" need (but not all the way, of course), but not getting any mail from them over a long time can actually increase stress. One messenger per season (climate and savagery permitting) seems about right, and each will hang around your tavern for about a week, to give dwarves time to reply. This should also create some demand for paper.

Dwarf Fortress -- kind of like Minecraft, but for people who hate themselves.

Sending a loveletter and not getting one back can certainly leave a traumatizing experience.
