burning items and throwing?
« on: February 21, 2007, 09:23:00 am »

will anything special happen if i throw a burning item to a monster? so far i did manege to ignite them but i always got killed before i found a suitable target to toss them to

or will it just create a massive smokescreen across its entire path and hit like a normal item without causing fire damage to the target?

test results so far:
3 smoldering piles of ash that were once adventurers
1 burning jaguar corpse
3 buned trees
1 snakeman with a mangled head
i assume that !!cougar corpse!! means something is on fire, or atleast hot

-an item can be ignited by placing it in a fire or placing a fire on the item
-picking up burning items does no damage, lugging it arround however does
-all burning items revert to normal upon leaving the zone
-thrown burning items do not generate smoke trails
-i only maneged to hit 1 thing so far with my flaming cougar ammunition, a snakeman and the hit mangled his head, the burning corpse doused on impact but somehow my adventurer got incinerated by an as of yet unknown source of fire that followed the adventurer(it was not an item in my inventory, none had the !!item!! tags to it, ad it wasnt an item i was wearing either
-burning items can kill the adventurer carrying them without damaging the container they are in
-it takes about 3 turns to ignite an item on a fire but if a creature died in a fire the remains burn instantly
-thrown burning items have a massive damage radius and can incinerate adventurers up to 3 squares away, however, they dont generate a fire on the spot that are on
-creatures unconcious or stunned in a fire do not seem to get damaged by it, or it doesnt give a message
-creatures with lung damage can suffocate in smoke
-dogs with no legs can rip out my adventureres throat if he tries to put them on fire

All you need is the right ammunition. For some good fun, find piercing wooden weapons like arrows, and try sticking em in goblins. It's pretty funny to see them running on fire.
