Difference between Normal and Hard Economy?

Do traders just demand more from you because everything you make is worth less?
Or is this the vaunted Dwarven Economy from 40D coming back?

The wiki doesn't seem to have any answers here.

EDIT: Reviewing the advanced difficulty settings leads me to believe it is some sort of modification of how much wealth you need before things happen (lower for enemies to show up, for example), and how much value a guildhall, temple, or whatever must have for each tier. Specifics are still a question, and I don't want to wreck my current fort.

When you pick Custom you get a list of everything that setting adjusts.
