[Buckler VS Shield] Bucklers don't seem to be useful.

Actually Buckler doesn't seem to have any merit.

defense is worse than shield,
weight seems to be a little lighter than the shield, so it doesn't seem meaningful than the shield.

Why does Buckler exists? Is it worth using?

This thread is likely still valid, as the raw data for shields and bucklers hasn't changed for years.

The consensus seems to be that bucklers are currently less effective and that the savings in weight is not enough to make them better in any conditions.

The wiki states that crossbowdwarves with bucklers are more accurate.
