How do I use Rick's tools?

I am trying to hack a game for testing purposes (this time I want to make sure my animal creations *work* before building an entire fortress based on catching them), so I downloaded Rick's utilities from the wiki.  Unfortunately, I don't see any instructions whatsoever, and running the adjuststart.exe program (the first I've tried to use) does nothing that I can see.

Help?

From what you said, I don't think there are any utilities that will help you with what you want to do.  adjuststart.exe only changes the starting points and starting number of dwarves, nothing else.

try putting -? after the command to run it, sometimes it'll spit out a command listing.

I actually looked at the disassembly of adjuststart.exe, and no it doesn't have any help instructions.

But for using that utility, start up Dwarf Fortress (the main menu is fine), you enter in the values you want (there are a limits though) and when you start a new fortress, you'll get the number of points to spend and you'll get the number of dwarves you wanted to start with.

The limit is 65535 for the starting points and 2147483647 for the number of dwarves.  Of course you'll run out of memory before you can use that max for dwarves.

I found the instructions in the discussion part of the utilities section on the wiki.  There really ought to be some sort of readme or something that goes with this.

I used this program to beef everything up so that I can build everything very quickly without worrying about maintaining the fortress.  Much less wasted time.
