Temple Traps: Curse-based Defenses?
« on: January 23, 2023, 09:22:29 pm »

Toppling a statue in a temple gets you cursed by the gods.
Temples can be built wherever you feel like.
Sieges often bring creatures that are Building Destroyers.

Is it feasible to build a "Desecration Bait" temple outside your fortress to entice invaders to topple the statues and then become cursed?
Will the Gods curse Invaders?
Are some gods more apt to choose some types of curses over other

I'm having fantasies of a Troll transforming into a Were-Donkey and turning on their former comrades, hopefully biting several in the process...

Currently only believers are cursed... So unless you are invaded by dwarves of your own religion, then this trap won't work. But it used to work in earlier versions.

Besides, I'm not sure if changing a goblin into a weremammoth would do much good to your defences  ;D

Wait, so if you don't believe in a god, they can't hurt you?
Atheists must be invincible!

Gods just don't care about every schmuck throwing a tantrum. Religious persecution wouldn't work very well if every fanatical mob was cursed to roam the night as a penguin the moment they kicked off.
