Question about HFS
« on: December 18, 2021, 11:03:58 am »

Can a drawbridge permanently stop the clowns from breaching your fortress? I have one set up and closed over the only entrance from below; will that prevent the utter destruction of everything in my fort?

Yes, a drawbridge can stop all kinds of !!Fun!! from entering your fort if you get a good seal on things. Drawbridges are indestructible by creatures, so they are effectively foolproof for base deference.

............Nevermind. They're coming up through the well.

Also yes, most kinds of !!Fun!! can use "non-traditional" entrances you forgot to seal. The definition of "foolproof" in DF is rather more rigidly defined than in the everyday lexicon. On the bright side you have just moved another step up the DF learning curve, so congratulations! Pro tip; next fort make sure your cistern is within your security envelope.

Yes, it's a bad idea to position animals or anything else the dragon wants to burn near a drawbridge you want to keep intact and unmelted.
That was one very !!FUN!! thing I learned during my turn in Doomhollow.
