So many scary Adjectives...
« on: March 05, 2008, 09:42:00 pm »

Is there any difference between Haunted, Sinister, Terrifying, and the other evil biome adjectives, or are they just for variety?

There's a difference.  That attribute affects the local fauna:

Real dwarves only start fortresses in terrifying locales.

I don't think the wiki serves well to illustrate the difference, so, here's a primer:
Evil = undead
Savage = giant eagles
Evil + Savage = Fun times

I once found a 1000 year old skeletal muskox, back in the 2d version... It slaughter my entire party of 6-10 and my uber-legendary like they were nothing... I never saw it again but it made it into legends... It was one scary ass muthafucka.

So... is there a difference between evil grey-and-red map tiles versus evil purple map tiles?  It seems like the grey-and-red ones tend to have dead trees and the like, maybe it's "evil unlife" versus "evil goblin/demon influence"?

there are "undead" evil zones which have skeletal/zombie animals and dead trees, and there are "evil" evil zones which have evil creatures like ogres and grimelings and are essentialy the counterpart to good zones

And how can you tell which is an undead evil zone and which isn't?

Purple color is evil. Black/red is usually undead. Dark brown/red water is usually both. I'm not exactly sure, I never did enough testing on this matter.
