Day Four:Morning

"Hopefully that'll be my last night spent sleeping in the street."
Do whatever the leader of the caravan needs me to do.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
(6) You spend an uneventful morning. Around lunch time, a random magical event occurs. D20: (1) The air around you gets really staticky. The sky flickers with heat lightning. Fairy lights flutter densely in the breeze. Wherever they touch, the quality of the material is changed in some way. You spend an hour placing repellent tarps over the wagons and pack animals. (1) some of the fairy lights touch you before you get your protective poncho on, leaving your skin pocked with brownish green spots. You now have a magical skin rash. Mark that down. You'll want to have a doctor look at it at some point, if you can afford it.

take the hunting job.  start hunting.
alright, let's see how bad the monster hunt is: 2 a giant squid has crawled into the sewer system from the dock region. It's terrifying the usual denizens of the sewer, sending rats and roaches into warehouses, alehouses, basements and businesses. You are sent in to the sewer to deal with the squid, and quickly discover that it is bigger than you by a fair amount. D12 difficulty: (10) Your strikes get no purchase on the creature's skin. It begins curling its tentacles around itself in a writhing ball, which makes it pretty hard to strike. It lashes out at you: d12 v body (10) sending you flying with a barb-filled slash across your chest. Yo are forced to retreat for the moment and get bandaged on the surface. You report to the overseer, who seems unmoved by your plight. You can go in again if you want, or do something else. If you go in, feel free to try some other tactic, or keep trying straight combat. Your wound is unpleasant and will require attention for a week, but it won't affect combat.

Neat! I'm fine just going with the flow for now, and since I have some idle time this evening I think I'll use it doing some solo practice, since it's important to be able to wield myself. I want to especially focus on getting a handle on using my elemental magic. I need to understand it better so that I can help my wielder use it!

More checkups on our crew, make sure they're not getting sick or anything.

Spoiler: the healer (click to show/hide)
First, Morning check-ups [hidden], skill roll (automatic success). Everyone is fine for now.
Now for the day's travel and events (4) a boring day is passed by all. Travel is on schedule, or at least, is still only half a day behind.
afternoon self practice for Gwyn d20 v elemental: (6) You find that it is not so much a matter of "practice makes perfect" as it is a matter of fate whether an elemental effect gets applied to your attacks. remind me, and i will roll a d10 each attack to determine of an additional effect takes place.

(Can I count this location in my inventory?  It might come in handy in the future.  To sell, if nothing else.  I have pen and paper to make maps.)

Go fishing at the lovely swift river.

(How does a character improve one's skills?)

Spoiler: Jack (click to show/hide)
You can count the location, but as it is within someone's territory, it's not a piece of sellable info. Well, not a piece of legitimately sellable info. You could make it a sort of temporary base, as long as you don't get caught. as for the day's fishing: I'll roll at advantage for today: (7, 3) you get enough fish to satisfy for 2 days. It will spoil, so if you keep it as an item it will be fresh for a day, not fresh for 2 days and bad/rotten for like 3 days after that before becoming entirely unuseable. if you convert it directly to food, it will be the first food you eat, since the starting food was essentially unperishable.

I don't have plans for improving skills in the game. Perhaps if one were to encounter a skill trainer and had the means to take advantage of it.

d12 v mind: 4. through dogged determination and good reference you get another job at a construction site doing inventory processing. Receiving, allocations, recording. There's a big shipment of materials today, so you are busy all day organizing that. this job is available for 1d6 days: 3 days. Construction will be finished in two days, and your records will be due the following day.

"Well damn."
Examine the rash in my spare time but otherwise keep doing what's needed from me as part of the caravan.

(I'll just count it while I'm here, then.  I'll leave tomorrow.)

Eat early while the fish is fresh, and then find shelter.

So far so good, lets keep this up and see if the caravan leaders decide to open up about what the goal really is sometime soon.

((I don't think heating something that is right above us to a ridiculous degree is very smart. Worst case scenario we become +metal statues+. This is a finely crafted metal statue. It is encrusted with sharkmist and HMRC. On the item is an image of HMRC and Pancaek. Pancaek is laughing. The HMRC is melting. The artwork relates to the encasing of the HMRC in metal by Pancaek during the Mission of Many People.))
