Do enemy sieges affect their site population?
« on: May 17, 2021, 02:14:14 am »

I had a siege of 40 humans, out of which 10 were from settlement that is target of my raids. I locked myself up and started preparing to mince the invaders, but they quickly disbanded and returned home.
My question is, if I had killed those 10, would that mean that their settlement is actually 10 men weaker?

Yes.

All siege participants come from the settlement the siege is staged from. It's possible for a settlement to deplete its population to the point it's no longer able to send more sieges (somewhere around 20 or so left), although they can recover if you give them 50 years or so. I'm not sure about trolls, ogres, etc. as their number does not seem to decrease from being killed in sieges, but they ought to.

My doubt regarding trolls etc. is caused by viewing dark fortresses before and after sieges and not seeing their numbers change, but remain the same odd number (something like 2524) for all of them.

In theory it ought to be possible for a goblin siege to consist completely of trolls. The leader of a siege appears to have to be a hist fig, but trolls and ogres can become hist figs and become upgraded to soldiers (I really like ogres playing to their strengths by arriving wielding crossbows). It's also possible the leader of each squad has to be a hist fig, but, again, that would be possible.
