Adventurer taking two steps each turn
« on: March 22, 2021, 10:21:32 pm »

My 'adventurer' has started taking to steps for each movement which makes navigating trenches/buildings etc very frustrating.
(press arrow key once and character moves two tiles instead of one).

Does anyone know why this is or more importantly how to fix it.

Thanks in advance :)

Is movement set to immediate repeat in your key bindings? (Or your KEY_HOLD_MS and KEY_REPEAT_MS in init.txt set too low?)

Reading his name would trigger it. Thinking of him would trigger it. No other circumstances would trigger it- it was strictly related to the concept of Bill Clinton entering the conscious mind.

A wizard has turned you into a wagon. This was inevitable (Y/y)?

Heya Bumber, thanks for replying.

[KEY_HOLD_MS:250]
[KEY_REPEAT_MS:150]

Using PeridexisErrant's Starter Pack (LNP) so I'm not sure if this is DF default or tweaked by PeridexisErrant.

edit: just downloaded DF vanilla and its the same.

cheers

This is going to sound stupid, but it's important to get the stupid questions out of the way: Are you sure it's specific to DF? When you press your arrow keys in general, cursors only move one position? Because sometimes if the switches in your keyboard are going bad you can get that behavior.

No only in DF, I've had to quit a world because of it.
I've since started a new world and after ~2 hours it appeared so I quit, went off and did some things came back and its back to working as it should.
Its probably something I'm doing... will have to give it time to see if it happens again and try to document the process that leads to this.

Thanks all for your help, much appreciated :)
