Author Topic: Can unsold items left at the trade depot be sold to the next trader?  (Read 665 times)

I have so many items that the caravans can never buy them all but I saw that although a ton of items were at 0 distance, they were not showing as available for sale.
Can someone explain why that is?
Is it a must to carry all of them back to a pile and back to be sold?

Thanks

You do not need to carry them back to a stockpile.

There are two steps to trading:
1) assign the items to be brought to the depot ('q' the depot, then 'g' to set the items to PENDING)
2) trade the items ('q' the depot, then 't' to start the trading session)

If you did step 1, then you should see them in step 2. If you did not see them in step 1, those items are owned by a dwarf or by a previous traders, are currently TSK'ed to be hauled, or something like that.

Also, if you don't want those items, you can give them to the traders for free.

There is something to be said about, if the stakes are as high, maybe reconsider your certitudes. One has to be aggressively allistic to feel entitled to be able to trust. But it won't happen to me, my bit doesn't count etc etc... Just saying, after my recent experiences I couldn't trust the public if I wanted to. People got their risk assessment neurons rotten and replaced with game theory. Folks walk around like fat turkeys taunting the world to slaughter them.

As anewaname said, you need to mark items for trading for them to become available for trading. If they're already in the trade depot no hauling is needed and no hauling will occur (and if the caravan is already in the trade depot and ready for trade when you add your trade depot items [as opposed to the caravan's items just unloaded, which you can't sell to them...] you can sell them immediately without unpausing as they're already present.

I don't give items away, but I often sell everything (mostly worn clothing) at the nominal price of a single cheap item just to get rid of it. Elven caravans have a limited carrying capacity, so for those I often find myself buying heavy items (boulders of clay and giant animals) just to make room for them to haul away my garbage.
