4 FPS?  That's better.  It'll probably go up some more when I add in the option to turn off some of the bells and whistles (fog, etc.).

Yeah, it's hard right now.  You're naked, with no skull and no ribs.  That means you are a water balloon with a weapon just waiting to get popped.  He he he.  Clothes/armor and skulls/ribs will help enormously.  There's also the fact that you must now engage the opponents within their cities, and it's easy to become surrounded.  Of course, body detonation spells are going in before clothes (by special request).  That should add a new aspect to the difficulty level, I think...

Add to the difficulty as 12 norway rats can now make ou expolde at will??  Or do you mean decreace the difficulty??

Hey!  Everyone who reads this board make a name and give some input!  Consider how many hours Tarn is putting into this, you can put in 5 min to comment and tell him how good a job (or how bad...) hes doing!  He really does listen, so put your 2 cents in!

Up to 33 downloads now!  He he he.  In March 2001, ADOM got 50000.  So I'm right up there.  I used to get a few hundred back when RLNews was up, but there isn't really much point in aggressively "advertising" (in quotes because the game is free, and I won't pay to put ads up) now.  Maybe when the Plan page is cleared.

Yeah, Norway rats with body detonation powers would make things a little harder I think.  I Suppose we'll have to curtail those abilities soon after they're added (but not right at first, of course).  I mean, healing spells are going in at the same time, so I'm guessing it'll be a competition between who can blow up and grow back limbs faster.  How untoward.

I of course abide by the lurker's right to remain completely anonymous (to the point that he or she doesn't even make up a fake name for a message board).  But your views are always welcome.  I especially liked the email I received some months back from somebody who said the game was "ugly as hell" (which was true, might still be).

After (brief) testing on my new, new computer (just got it today) Armok as it is now runs on XP. I got a FPS reading of 63ish.

Thought you might like to know.

So it goes slower on your new computer?  You were getting 90 before?  Is there some reason (graphics hardware, processor speed, etc.) that you can put to that, or does it appear to be related to XP?  (I'm still using 98).  Thanks for the report.

On the annoying nonsense front, I just got hit with some strange extraneous teaching responsibilities today, so the next few days might be quiet...  I expect to be back on track by the weekend.  I've laid down some preliminary groundwork for growths (nothing special yet).  I still should have the next Armok version done in a couple of weeks at most.

As far as I know, the decrease in framerate is due to XP (since the new computer has a higher speed, more memory, a more powerful graphics card, etc).. the actual gameplay doesn't seem different in speed or smoothness, though.

In that case it might just be the frame rate counter.  I know from the internal mechanics (the amount of frames that print in one complete rotation of the view) that I'm getting somewhere around 100 FPS, but my counter jumps from 70 to 90 like mad.  Because of the way I'm calculating frames, I think the numbers will only be reliable when they are smaller (say <50 or 60).

I've authorized you a few times now -- I just now authorized the one from 1/27/02.  In my list, it still has you under Awaiting Authorization, which means you need to authorize me...  I'm not sure what's going on.  I'll send you a new authorization request.
