I'm starting a second Epic Construction - Same base, different idea.

Argh, this isn't going to get done tonight.

What I've done is made a giant tower for storing and transferring water, so that the only way water flows through the river is through the tower.

It makes a three-story high waterfall in the process.

A small aqueduct leads out from the tower to miniature waterfall buildings that straddle the bridges into the fortress, so that anyone coming in or out gets touched by mist.

I'm considering building a second one using moat water since one of the farther ones might not get water.

The water is controlled in any case- Levers can shut down all flow immediately.

I actually drained out the river down that way on purpose so my dwarves could operate down there without getting washed away.
