Interesting and (mostly) un-siegeable location.
« on: February 27, 2008, 07:24:00 pm »

Seed is 111121519, version is whatever the current one is (the one with the "c"), map size is the largest (standard). HUGE number of rejects, sadly.

I don't know how often something like this occurs, but it's the first time I've found one in one of my own worlds. Unfortunately, the lake and river freeze during the winter, but if you build a wall around it, if you wait long enough, the goblin armies will fall into the lake when it melts, which might be good for a few laughs.

Other than the semi-unsiegability of it, what makes it interesting is that I found a rock layer DIRECTLY ABOVE the aquifer. Not in another biome, but ABOVE THE AQUIFER. Does that happen a lot around lakes, or did I find a rare oddity (I wouldn't know, I usually don't embark on lakes)?

Aside from those two things, it doesn't have anything interesting other than some black sand somewhere on here, and there often seems to be some bauxite in the island somewhere (good for getting below the aquifer).

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

Looks like a good spot, too bad any lakes make my FPS commit suicide.

One billion b-balls dribbling simultaneously throughout the galaxy. One trillion b-balls being slam dunked through a hoop throughout the cosmos. I can feel every single b-ball that has ever existed at my fingertips, I can feel their collective knowledge channeling through my veins. Every jumpshot, every rebound and three-pointer, every layup, dunk and free throw.

How do you export an image of a full map like that? I've never been able to find the command.

Surprisingly, despite the fact that my FPS is usually around 15-20-ish, I ended up having around a hundred when I embarked here. Can't imagine why.

To get a map like that, after you start playing Fortress mode, hit Escape to open the menu and then select "Export local image" or something like that.

Probably having trouble finding it because it's not in the normal interface and it doesn't say 'screenshot' in the name. Hit Escape to get into Options, then select Export Local Image. That's how you do it.

I've always wanted a proper island! Not just a fortress on a large island, but a fortress on a playable sized island. This may be my next fortress.
