What track clearing mechanisms might the engravers have employed, I wonder?  Perhaps a gravity ramp with a 2-cart system, one to clear the path and one to ride in?

It is with a heavy heart that I must announce that I can no longer continue to update this series. Sadly, I just don't have the spare time anymore  :-[ .

I've pushed one last big update: Chapter 4
