Dwarves could gain benefit from domesticating and farming parasitic plants, because it would allow them to be grown totally underground, sidestepping the results of surfacing with cave adaptation and also being behind their fortifications. There could be plenty of room they're able to grow these plants in too, if they make a settlement under a forest.
Ironically, that would mean that if humans came along and started cutting down trees, that would have a negative impact on the dwarves because their crops rely on the forest above, and they might send diplomats to demand a limit to woodcutting...
