Currently, the work order condition creatiom dialog and the minecart hauling order dialogs have systems which allow the user to specify a class of items by traits, material, type, etc.
I feel that if you expanded this system by allowing logical expressions (e.g. "NONE/ANY/ALL of the following") you could make the system very powerful.
Moreover, I see no reason why this system is not used to perscribe the item classes for stockpiles.
One could also expand the system to cover creatures in certain contexts, allowing one to use the system to specify creature classes for burrows/animal pens and to finally automate milking and shearing.
The class definition system could also be used for trade good specifications, uniforms, and search parameters in the stocks screen.
Why not unify all cases where the user needs to specify an item/creature class to use the same system and datastructures?
