dwarves stuck in cages
« on: April 26, 2020, 03:29:13 pm »

I've got two dwarves stuck in cages, and my other dwarves aren't letting them out.

I rebuilt the cages in the dining hall, but they are still not being let out.

This is very frustrating. Is this a known bug? Does anyone have a solution?

It is known that dwarves that accidentally get caged do not get released by themselves.

You could release them by selecting the cage with 'q' and pressing 'enter' after while the dwarf is selected.

If that fails, build a lever (b-T-l) and connect it to the cage (a-j after opening the lever job menu). Pull the lever.

I should point out that I've had no problems caging and uncaging animals. I keep a puppy cage to maintain my frame rate. I've been able to dump captured crundles back into the caverns.

I'll probably have to use the level method to get my dwarves back.

The lever method is what I've used. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen (dodge into traps, FB webs left on traps).
