First thing. You need both Hegemony 3+all DLC. And Hegemony Rome+all dlc...or no go. Luckily they are super cheap on sale but still 30 dollars for base game despite the age and it having no more dev support, also unluckily hegemony rome is broken on windows 10 where it doesn't start. Still need it though for the mod. Is it worth it? Well as someone who has put in over 1000 hours into the mod, yes yes it is and I would have only gotten 50 hours or less out of Hegemony 3...but I also just like the mod a lot. Its still mostly Hegemony, just takes Hegemony 3 and makes it 100x the size and content
Also, it isn't a historical precision mod. You'll find a ton of factions that are there that wouldn't otherwise exist at the same time of the others. But, it isn't a fantasy mod, more an ahistorical mod. Thought I'd put that out there as may be a deal breaker for some...though Hegemony isn't really very historical to begin with.

"Imagine Total War (though real time, not turn based), with battles on the actual map...but with the mod it has a Kenshi sized+style map"
Zoomed out as far as one can go (a tiny bit cut off
)
https://i.imgur.com/OLi41kF.pngand...this is the nile+memphis, that literally looks more like the nile instead of a tiny line going through the land that you can't even sail through on ships...why can you not sail on the nile in so many historical grand strategy games (thank goodness mods fix it in those games that don't allow it) :O
https://i.imgur.com/951sBL3.pngthat is how big the map is (in the mod, its massive compared to Hegemony's 3 already big map).
There is even landmarks on the map
In CW early stages, there wasn't even pyramids for egypt. The map in general looked way worse than it does now. The map has come a LONG way.
Gameplay wise, a LOT of new units, new buildings, an insane amount of cities, usable rivers...a nile that is like the nile...almost looks like a city builder map in some aspects from the ancient classical historical city builder kinda games. While this is definitely an empire grand strategy builder and NOT a city builder, the mod does have that feel to it just because how the map is, gameplay wise not really. And as steam page says, there is new resources, animals on the map and all kinds of additional content.
If you like Hegemony (which is like a real time total war style game with actual battles on the map), definitely would love this. If didn't like Hegemony...well this is a mod, not a new game (though in a lot of ways feels like it kind of, like an Hegemony 4)
Also lastly, one game took me about 600 hours and I didn't even come close to finishing before a new version of CW came out (think at that time it was CW 4, and then it went to CW 5). But I do play slow and turtle like. Still, most grand strategies still don't take that long. But you don't really have to world conquest and historically wouldn't make sense. Can make small(er) goals like one can in other grand strategies.
