TEXT mode in ubuntu can't use SHIFT

I'm using ubuntu and choose the TEXT mode(because otherwise the font is too small), but it seems that I can't use SHIFT. Is there a solution for this?

You mean the SHIFT key doesn't work?

What terminal emulator are you using?

Though, a better way to solve the font size issue might be to use a larger tileset: http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/Tileset_repository

I'm using the default ubuntu 18 terminal. When I use STANDARD mode SHIFT works, but when I use TEXT it doesn't work.

And thanks for the tileset link! I'm now using the 1920*900 one it looks clear enough.

However I find I like the default ubuntu font better. Can I just copy an ubuntu font png to the folder and use that? Where can I find an ubuntu default font png?

Strange, if I set TEXT mode on LXTerminal on Arch I can use the SHIFT key just fine.

Here is a tool to make any font into a tileset. No idea what fixed width font Ubuntu uses by default for it's terminal, though.

Excellent too! I make a tileset based on DejaVu Sans Mono as was recommended in a post.

I just changed the key-bindings to (also) use alt+enter and the like whenever I needed the shift key...
