It seems you predicted my intentions well, me. Well, me is me, so that is a good sign I know myself from past, present and future. Congrats you of 2019, keep up the introspection, it's not like I of the 2018 will give you a choice - I know you'll not let all our prior incarnations down. 2016 & 2017 us are proud of the steps you made.
So where are you now? In Copenhagen, unexpectedly. Soon to fly off to the capital of the Middle Kingdom from the United Kingdom. You didn't get that book done, as its word count has bloated out of control (prepare the butcher's knife to carve off the fat), but you made significant progress. I can certainly criticise myself for a series of days and cash wasted on idle frivolity, but that was minimal fortunately. Nearly getting yourself drunk dead that one time in celebration however is unforgivable, make sure your brother's pouring privileges remain revoked in perpetuity, for sake of both of yours health!
I of 2018 has stayed true to all our principles, even if we have been a little too Cao Chong. Keep your distance from people who have chips on their shoulders, I finally have gained us the material capabilities to put three oceans between you and them, and your health really can't take a lifetime with them - you did everything you could to repair those incinerated bridges. You of 2019, you foolish time traveler - keep up the good work. You're not there, but you're walking forwards in our ancestral circle. Lord knows what you'll find, but it can't be worse than the North Sea?
I settle you the question: Did you finish the book in 2019? Did you start the second (it is topical now, but time is fleeting friend)? How robust are your fledgling finances? How well can you cook now? Did you cowardly retreat from your language acquisition? Have you succeeded in finding a pair of shoes that actually fit? How many friends have you lost, how many gained, how many truly retained? Did you write down the memories of your life you still have?
Advance meek with bold intent. Do not eat the poisoned food, and try not to die of lung disease. Sound advice, no? Remember it future self. If you have failed, ensure you have retreated successfully without guilt or excessive self-punishment. Failure is not cause for despair, death however very much is.
Be seeing you in 2020 space cowboy
