Dwarf Fortress on Multiple Screens
« on: December 14, 2019, 01:03:12 pm »

I have a multiple screen setup and was wondering if it's possible to get different DF screens displayed at the same time? I have the DFHack window open and it can be useful but it would be really great if I could get the announcement or combat screen stickyed on other monitors.

Sadly no. DF only produces a single viewport window.  Now, you could stretch the window so that it spans the displays, leaving the menu and map portion on the rightmost monitor, and the play area on the leftmost, but that would split the full-screen menus (status, kitchen, thoughts, etc..) over both screens in an ugly and unpleasing manner.

It might be possible to create a program that taps the DF executable for the announcements as they happen, and fill a window with them-- similar in nature to therapist.  I dont know of any that exist though.

LNP does include announcement window, I use this with slightly modified filters. There's also more graphical one that I forgot the name of.

For in-game map screen, there's dwarf radar.

Also, these questions might be better asked in questions or utilities forums.
